San Jose Home, nestled in Cheenikuzhy, near Thodupuzha, Kerala, is a dedicated project by the Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate (A.S.M.I.), St. Joseph's Province. Established with the vision of providing a safe and secure living environment for senior citizens, our home represents the congregation's commitment to compassionate elderly care.
The A.S.M.I., founded by Servant of God Msgr. Joseph Kandathil on April 2, 1949, has a rich legacy of humanitarian service. Our congregation's mission extends across various healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and social service centers, serving the most vulnerable in society.
The Assisi Sisters serve in diverse healthcare settings including general hospitals, leprosy hospitals and asylums, homes for the aged, cancer care facilities, HIV-AIDS centers, TB clinics, and rehabilitation centers for the disabled. Our educational initiatives encompass nursing colleges, schools for underprivileged children, and special education facilities for the deaf, blind, and mentally challenged.
Beyond healthcare and education, our sisters are deeply involved in evangelization, social work, and parish ministry. This holistic approach reflects our unwavering commitment to community development and support, ensuring dignity and comprehensive care for all those we serve.

San Jose Home, which began its journey on August 17, 2023, was born from the vision of Fr. Jose Varickamackal, a dedicated priest of the Diocese of Kanjirapally. His unwavering commitment to serving the elderly led him to contribute his patrimony and personal funds towards this noble cause.
Currently residing at San Jose Home, Fr. Varickamackal continues to guide the institution's progress while serving as the Spiritual Director, offering his services free of charge. His presence and ongoing dedication ensure that the home maintains its founding principles of compassionate care and spiritual guidance for all residents.
Residents will be cared for in the true spirit of service, including routine medical check-ups.
Cheenikuzhy is a rural village situated in the Udumbannoor Panchayat, Thodupuzha Taluk, on the western side of Idukki District in Kerala State, approximately 19 kilometers from Thodupuzha.
